probably more challenging than i expected it to be, the freehand drawing of the teacup tested alot of precision ability. I think for me it kind of got me thinking of how much i depend on tools to draw. Getting back to just using a ruler, and drawing circles and curves by moving your hand in natural curving motions and arcs therefore tests and measures alot of hand eye coordination which was interesting to disover. In the end i think i was really proud of the result especially the circles as seen in the plan, which turned out not perfect but still very good. The white ceramic of the teacupe dispresed and reflected light in not just a single direction and hence i ended up with a kind of feathery delicate shading weight that i hope emphasised this movement of light on the teacup surface.

WORKSHOP 1: MATERIAL MODELLING

overall what i came to appreciate from the material modelling workshop is tangibility of model forms and materiality. I liked the strong experimental element, as well as the focus on crafting with precision and intention. I think through the process of altering a simple structure through experimental and imaginative techniques would really help in design. The tangbility of representation through model forms is what makes it such an accessible and effective form of architectural communication, and i think that the skills i developed in designing and crafting a model will definitely evolve and improve throughout my next few years in architecture.

Essentially with the photo montage the challenge i found was representing the dynamics of my three dimensional folding geometry on a 2d surface. I think to emphasise the dynamic nature therefore i used various colours and also elements that extended from the paper surface.

The concept behind these alterations was to disconnect the building from itself and reconnect it to its surrounding natural environment. The folding ramp is devised into sections that act as roots which offer a more natural way of connecting to the ground. I also added trellis like structures to emphasise this idea of the building returning back to nature.
